Until relatively recently, I have always felt that I struggled to feel like I was accomplishing anything. Then I came across 7 easy self improvement tips that really helped me to start moving my life in the direction I want to go. These tips are not new. In fact, they have been around for many years. But they are so simple they are often overlooked. Some, in our current culture, are even ignored. But they can have great benefits if you use them.
Daily Journaling
The first easy self improvement tip I would like to offer you is Daily Journaling. I have to admit that this is something that is relatively new to me as I am writing this, but I have found it to be extremely effective. I find that journaling gives me a way to reflect on the day, giving me an opportunity to evaluate how I performed that day. As a server, I learned a long time ago that I needed to evaluate how I performed on a table, particularly when things went bad, so that I could do better next time. Journaling does this for you.
Another great reason to journal is that it gives you the opportunity to track your progress. When I participate in a writing event called NaNoWriMo, I track my progress every day. A journal gives me a place I can track my progress on other goals that I am trying to achieve.
Meditation
For years, I thought this next easy self improvement tip was not something I needed to do — meditation. For one thing, I did not believe much in it. But I have found that meditation has a lot of great health benefits, including helping to make you more relaxed, regulate your digestion, help you recover faster, and more. Personally, I have been using a program called Holosync for my meditation, but traditional meditation has much of the same benefits over time. Holosync just helps me to reach deeper levels faster than through traditional methods, speeding up my results.
Expecting to Win
Expecting to win is an easy self improvement tip I have used for years to successfully compete in NaNoWriMo. Every day, we face challenges. We need to learn to hold onto that expectancy that we will win. As long as we hold onto this and persevere in whatever we are trying to do, we will eventually reach a level of success with it.
As a server, I used this also. When I began expecting to get better tips, I found that I got the better tips way more often that before I developed this expectancy.
One thing to note with the expectancy to win is that you don’t have to know, when you are starting out, just how you will get there. In fact, when I do NaNoWriMo, I have many points during the month when I don’t know just how I will get to the 50,000 word mark of the event. But as you keep on going, you will find a point where you can see exactly how you will reach your goal. Keep pushing through, and you will find this point.
Written Goals and Action Plan
Too often, many people languish in the dreams stage because they fail to follow this easy self improvement tip. To turn our dreams and wishes into goals, we must make them specific and measurable and write them down. By writing them down, we can focus on them every day to remind ourselves what we wish to achieve.
As we write them down, we also need to remember to develop an action plan of steps we should take to help us reach that goal. Once we have a plan, we can follow it, and adjust it as needed. When I do NaNoWriMo, I follow a plan to write a certain number of words each day so that I can make the goal for the month. Some days, I miss that goal, so I have to write more another day. Other times, I know I can relax further on a bit because I did more than the plan called for. Following a plan gives you something you can focus on to help you reach your goal.
Be Well Rounded
For a short period of time, you can focus on one particular aspect of yourself or goal that you want to achieve. But over time, you need to be well rounded. This easy self improvement tip is often neglected. People fail to see how things are interconnected. But if you are not physically fit, you may not have the energy you need to focus on your other goals. If your financial situation is out of whack, you might find that you don’t have the funds you need to pursue a goal. And too often, people pursue their goals only to reach their goal and have no one to share it with because they neglected their relationships. For true success, we must pay attention to all areas of our life.
Positive Affirmations
The next easy self improvement tip I would like to share with you is positive affirmations. An affirmation is something that you write down and repeat to yourself to help you reach the goals you want to achieve. Affirmations should be positive, present tense, and specific. Use affirmations to change your inner dialog, or the things you tell yourself. You should rehearse them at least twice a day. To stay well rounded, you should pick an affirmation for each area of your life to focus on.
Teaching To Learn
Years ago, when I was a Boy Scout, I learned that one of the best ways to learn something was to teach it. For years, I forgot about this easy self improvement tip until I came across it again. In fact, this tip is one of the reasons why I first created this web site — as a way to reinforce with myself the lessons that I am learning so that I can be more successful. Not everyone is as far along on the journey as I am, and even some areas, I have a lot experience with while others I need more work. Sharing what I know helps motivate me to use what I am learning as well as allowing me to help others.
Why don’t you try this yourself! Take a moment to write a quick paragraph or two about something you learned here. Share it with some of your friends. Start using these easy self improvement tips and sharing them with others, and you will find yourself on your way to being more successful.
Good luck building your success, one block at at time!

I love the self improvement skills that you have shared here. Keeping a journal is what most successful people do. Her they write what they are doing each day and also what they want to do in the future. This gives you the opportunity to be able to analyze your success or failures and what you can do to improve on your weak areas. Positive affirmations are also a great tip as you are able to motivate yourself.
Studies of the journals of one of the most prolific minds the world has ever known, Leonardo da Vinci, have shown they contain observations he made of the world around him, sketches for devices (many of which were never actually made, and, until recently, not known if they would work; those that have been made in recent years have proven to be remarkably accurate and working models years, decades, even centuries before similar devices were actually made and produced), sketches for painting ideas, and a number of lists, including grocery lists. One of the most fascinating things of Leo’s journals is that they are all written backwards in mirror writing.
I’ll admit that I forget to write in my journals as often as I should, but I do use them frequently.
Thanks for your comments!
Where do you usually make a journal? It is alright if I will have it on my phone, so I can bring it with me all the time and view my progress anytime I want?

The great thing about a journal is that you can use whatever you like. Technology is starting to get to the point where using a device like a phone for all sorts of things is possible. I find I’m using my phone more and more for some of the same things I used the small notepad for, but you could use it in place of the other forms of journaling as well.
Great idea, Candice! I say if it works for you, then use it!

I notice that I seem to get more done when I’m working on improving myself than when I’m just trying to get by. Still have a long way to go, but I’m slowly getting there. Thanks for your comment, Bryan.
I think meditation is more effective among your seven self improvement tips. Most of the part of self improvement comes from meditation. But your seven tips are very important for self improvement. Thank you for your informative post.
I have to admit that I’m still seeking out a kind of meditation that works really well for me, though I have definitely found it to be helpful. My biggest problem is being focused enough to remember to do them (and be focused during them).
Thanks for your comment. Just as a tip for next time, remember to include your name. Some people, like me, like to be able to reply to your comments using a name. I don’t mind the other too (that’s why I have keywordluv installed), but try to remember to include both
Making Journal is really hard to do especially when you do this as your daily task. This tips are very much to consider as they help us to improve our strategies.

Mika, I have to admit that I forget to do it as daily as I should. However, I find that the way that I journal is fairly easy for me to follow. The one might be a bit of figuring out just where certain info is, but otherwise the process is very simple.
I use 3 because that works for me. But you don’t have to. Journaling should be easy. All journaling is is recording your thoughts, information you have learned, ideas you’ve discovered, and anything else you wish to keep a record of so that you can remember and in some cases track progress. Make it fun. Just find what works for you.
Good luck!
